Postpartum Doula Services

A Postpartum Doula provides non-medical support for the entire family and resource assistance for up to a year following childbirth. 
  1. Physical Support
    This area of support may cover things like: * Helping mom care for baby and informs of any warning signs to watch for * Offering suggestions to help comfort and promote recovery, especially for cesarean care * Making sure mother gets enough food, fluids and rest * Helping mother avoid certain postpartum conditions such as exhaustion or engorgment
  2. Emotional Support
    This area of support may cover things like: * Listening to birth story * Supporting entire family through this new transition of life with new baby * Validating emotional challenges each family member may experience * Offering encouragement and reassurance as required
  3. Information Support
    This area of support may cover things like: * Guides family in infant care ie. bathing, umbilical care, and infant sleep * Gives information on infant developmental guidelines * Helps parents learn about options concerning how to feed baby * Informs parents about children's illnesses and injury prevention * Offers community resources when things go out of the Postpartum Doula scope of practice *Assists family with bonding with baby
  4. Practical Support
    This area of support may cover things like: * Preparing meals and snacks for family * Caring for baby while parents eat, rest or shower * Helping care for older siblings * Light housekeeping * May offer overnight support
